Couplings can quite often be overlooked as part of maintenance schedules as it is a separate component to the engine, but the role it plays means it needs to be looked after.

For Geislinger couplings, they will last the lifetime of the engine as long as they are correctly maintained.  From an operational perspective, this is the use of the correct, clean oil and following the manufacturers guidelines, rather than the one from the engine builder.
